The figures in picture A, and picture B, illustrate ideal posture.

Notice how, in picture A, the spine is vertically straight, and the horitzontal lines running through the head; shoulders; hips; and knees are level.
In picture B, the plumb line runs through the leg's major weight bearing joints... our ankles, knees and hips. It also runs through the curves of our lower back and neck.

The various physical, emotional and mental stresses of life cause our muscles to tighten involuntarily and pull us out of proper posture. This causes other muscles to work over-time helping to hold us up, resulting in compressed joints and fixations. Imbalanced muscle tension, and weakness patterns, are formed eventually leading to pain and fatigue for a variety of reason
(See "How Did I Get This Pain?")

Utilizing a plumb line, we can evaluate your posture and how it varies from the ideal. This gives us clues as to where the unhealthy patterns have been created.   A healthy and efficient posture, gives you more energy to enjoy life!
